Despite efforts to reduce grid disturbances, such as infrastructure upgrades, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has expressed concern over the increasing frequency of grid failures.

Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu has attributed the continued collapses to outdated infrastructure, while the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has yet to provide details on the current cause.

A group of armed gunmen have kidnapped multiple travellers in Niger State,   The attack occurred along the Ibbi–Bussa road in the Mokwa–New Bussa axis after the assailants ambushed a highway and engaged in a shootout with police officers.
