Despite efforts to reduce grid disturbances, such as infrastructure upgrades, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has expressed concern over the increasing frequency of grid failures.

Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu has attributed the continued collapses to outdated infrastructure, while the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has yet to provide details on the current cause.
