The Niger State Governor has inaugurated the newly appointed commissioners, permanent secretary, and elected council chairmen.

The ceremony, held at the Government House, also included the swearing-in of the vice chairmen

During the ceremony, Alhaji Yahaya Gulbin Boka, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary, was also sworn in.

The Governor urged both the elected and appointed officials to brace up for the daunting challenges facing the state, noting that he is counting on them to help realize his vision for a New Niger.

The event was graced by Governor Umar Bago, his Deputy Comrade Yakubu Garba, the Secretary to the State Government, Senator Sani Musa, members of the House of Representatives representing Kontagora and Suleja, along with traditional and religious leaders.

BREAKING: Gunmen Kidnap Passengers, Including Former SUBEB Chairman, in Niger State

A group of armed gunmen have kidnapped multiple travellers in Niger State,   The attack occurred along the Ibbi–Bussa road in the Mokwa–New Bussa axis after the assailants ambushed a highway and engaged in a shootout with police officers. Among those abducted is Alhaji Bawa Niworo, a former chairman of the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB).  Reports indicate that he, along with others—including a lawyer identified as Barrister Ahmad—were en route to Minna, the state capital, when their convoy was intercepted and they were taken into a nearby forest. According to local sources, the victims also include several traders who were returning from a weekly market in New Bussa. In a colorful and well-attended ceremony held at the palace of the Sarkin Sudan of Wurno, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Comptroller for Works, Engr (Dr) Yakub Usman , was turbaned with the prestigious traditional title of Tafarkin Wurno .
