Another berger contract faces revocation -- FG
The Federal Government has given Julius Berger a seven-day ultimatum to accept its N740.79 billion offer for completing a section of the Abuja-Kano Highway.
Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, emphasized the need to resolve negotiations, which have been ongoing since September 2023.
If Julius Berger does not accept the offer, the government will issue a 14-day termination notice in line with contract laws.
Umahi also noted ongoing critical rehabilitation of the Shagamu-Benin road and outlined plans for its full reconstruction.
The Abuja-Kano road will now proceed without a tax credit arrangement, and the Oyo-Ogbomosho road, stalled for 18 years, will resume work.
Additionally, significant repairs will be made to the Makurdi-Katsina-Ala road.
He addressed the government's inherited debt of ₦1.6 trillion associated with 2,604 projects, with a total contract value of ₦13 trillion, stating that a phased approach to project completion will be implemented based on available funding.
