Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, defended her husband, President Bola Tinubu, against criticism regarding the economic hardship facing the country. Speaking at the Palace of Ooni of Ife, she emphasized that the Tinubu administration is still in its early stages, having been in power for just 18 months, and asserted that they are working to address the current challenges.

The economic strain has intensified since the removal of the fuel subsidy, which dramatically increased petrol prices. In her remarks, Senator Tinubu acknowledged the impact of subsidy removal but expressed optimism for the future, stating that with support and prayers, Nigeria will see significant improvement in the next two years. She underscored her husband's integrity, stating that they are not greedy and are committed to building a better nation.

Additionally, she announced a generous donation of N1 billion to Ọbafẹmi Awolọwọ University for its development and advancement, reflecting her ongoing commitment to education and youth empowerment. The Ooni of Ife praised her past initiatives in Lagos State, highlighting her role in inspiring young leaders through programs like the One Day Governor initiative.
