Engr.(Dr) Yakub Usman Turbaned as the Tafarkin Wurno in Sokoto.
In a colorful and well-attended ceremony held at the palace of the Sarkin Sudan of Wurno, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Comptroller for Works, Engr (Dr) Yakub Usman, was turbaned with the prestigious traditional title of Tafarkin Wurno.
The event, which drew a large gathering of dignitaries from across Nigeria, took place today, September 6, 2025 and highlighted Engr. Usman's contributions to national development and his ties to the Wurno Emirate.

The ceremony concluded at approximately 1 PM. As part of the celebrations, the newly turbaned Tafarki of Wurno, alongside the Emir of Bwari and other dignitaries, had paid a courtesy visit to His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto at his Palace, who blessed the new Tafarkin, yesterday and also a visited the Sultan Muhammad Bello tomb (hubbare) at Wurno were they prayed for him and others
The conferment of the title TAFARKIN, a symbol of honor and responsibility, reflects Engr. (Dr)Yakub Usman’s distinguished service and growing influence within traditional and professional circles.
Wurno town is located approximately 45 kilometers from Sokoto and once served as the headquarters of the Sultanate.
According to reliable sources in Wurno, many former Sultans previously held the title of Sarkin Sudan of Wurno before ascending to the throne.
