Libya fine, Nigeria awarded victory - CAF

Nigeria has been awarded a 3-0 victory over Libya in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier after Nigeria refused to play due to mistreatment at a Libyan airport. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) ruled in Nigeria's favor following their ordeal, where they were stranded for over 16 hours without food or water, leading them to fly back home instead of fulfilling the fixture.

With this ruling, Nigeria tops Group D with 10 points, moving closer to qualifying for the 2025 finals in Morocco. Libya, having only one point from four matches, sits at the bottom of the group. CAF also fined Libya $50,000 for breaching competition rules regarding the treatment of visiting teams.

This incident sheds light on the broader issue of poor conditions often faced by visiting teams in African football, prompting CAF to consider stricter regulations to ensure better treatment.
