Minimum Wage: Lagos State appproved N85,000

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has approved a new minimum wage of N85,000 for civil servants in the state. 

This decision, announced during a live television interview on Wednesday, aims to improve the welfare of workers amid rising economic pressures.

Sanwo-Olu stated that this wage increase aligns with the federal government's recent approval of a N70,000 minimum wage and is part of his administration's response to ease the burden of the fuel subsidy removal on workers. 

The governor also hinted at further adjustments to civil servants' wages to reflect the current economic realities.

This move highlights the Lagos State government's commitment to supporting its workforce during challenging times.

Over 20 people kidnapped along Mariga -Kontagora - speaker

  Over 20 passengers have reportedly been kidnapped on the Mariga-Kontagora road in Niger State, according to Barrister Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly.  The incident occurred when bandits blocked the road between Baban-Lamba and Beri. Sarkin-Daji expressed concern about the military's dismissal of claims regarding bandit activities near military training grounds in Kontagora,  noting that victims previously kidnapped had reported being held in a forest close to the Kontagora Army Barracks.  He urged the military to take the feedback from affected communities seriously and work to eliminate the bandits operating in the area.  The Speaker emphasized that the military's role is to protect citizens, calling on federal authorities to address the situation effectively.
