The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is preparing to reduce its workforce significantly by the end of 2024, targeting over 1,000 employees for retirement under a program termed the Early Exit Package (EEP)

The move, described as part of a "strategic realignment" by the CBN’s Board of Governors led by Olayemi Cardoso, is expected to cost the bank over ₦50 billion in payouts

The move underscores the CBN's efforts to restructure its workforce amidst economic challenges and internal reforms.

However, the process has sparked apprehension among employees and drawn scrutiny over its execution, fairness, and long-term impact on the bank’s operations.
