Gov. Bago directs payment of =N=80,000 to Casual workers in General Hospitals

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has directed that all casual staff working in general hospitals across the state be paid a monthly wage of ₦80,000. This move aligns with the state's approved minimum wage and seeks to address the concerns of casual workers who cannot be fully absorbed into the state civil service.

The directive was issued during a meeting with aggrieved casual workers from Minna General Hospital at the Government House in Minna. Additionally, the governor announced automatic appointments for casual workers with degree qualifications who have served between 10 and 15 years, granting them permanent positions in the civil service.

For those with diploma qualifications, appointments will be given on a probationary basis, with a three-year period to upgrade their qualifications. Governor Bago emphasized his administration's commitment to improving the welfare of the state's residents and ensuring fair treatment of workers.
