4T Perovskite - CIGS tandem solar cells 

A groundbreaking solar technology has been developed by Chinese scientists, revolutionizing the solar energy sector with the creation of 4T perovskite-CIGS tandem solar cells, achieving a record-breaking efficiency of 29.36%. Perovskite, once considered impractical due to its instability, has been refined to improve its durability and efficiency, making it a viable option for the future of clean energy. The new solar cells feature a semi-transparent perovskite top layer, which absorbs high-energy light, while the copper-indium-gallium-selenide (CIGS) bottom layer captures low-energy light. This tandem setup significantly boosts energy conversion. Researchers have also enhanced the perovskite layer’s structure, leading to higher efficiency and greater stability, positioning this technology to potentially replace traditional silicon solar panels in the future.

Over 20 people kidnapped along Mariga -Kontagora - speaker

  Over 20 passengers have reportedly been kidnapped on the Mariga-Kontagora road in Niger State, according to Barrister Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly.  The incident occurred when bandits blocked the road between Baban-Lamba and Beri. Sarkin-Daji expressed concern about the military's dismissal of claims regarding bandit activities near military training grounds in Kontagora,  noting that victims previously kidnapped had reported being held in a forest close to the Kontagora Army Barracks.  He urged the military to take the feedback from affected communities seriously and work to eliminate the bandits operating in the area.  The Speaker emphasized that the military's role is to protect citizens, calling on federal authorities to address the situation effectively.
