Breaking: Armed Bandits attacks Military base Near Bangi, Mariga Local Government

Armed bandits launched an attack today on a military camp near Bangi, the headquarters of Mariga Local Government Area. The camp, situated along the Bangi–Kasuwar Garba Bobi road, was reportedly overrun by a large number of armed assailants. Several military personnel stationed at the camp were said to have lost their lives in the surprise assault.

At present, the bandits are believed to be moving toward an unknown location via the Bangi, Kakihum, and Ragada axis. Authorities are urged to respond swiftly and take decisive action to prevent further attacks on innocent civilians in the area.

This region has been plagued by repeated bandit attacks for over five years, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures.

  NELFUND Condemns Tuition Fee Hikes, Refund Delays by Tertiary Institutions The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has criticised what it described as unethical practices by some tertiary institutions in the implementation of the Federal Government's Student Loan Scheme. The agency accused the institutions of delaying or refusing to refund students who had already paid their tuition fees before NELFUND disbursed the loan funds. The Fund also raised concerns over reports that some institutions have arbitrarily increased tuition fees and other charges, warning that such actions undermine the purpose of the student loan programme introduced by the administration of President Bola Tinubu to improve access to higher education.
