Nafisa Aminu, Defeated over 20,000 contestants from 69 countries to Wins English competition in London

Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, a 17-year-old student from Yobe State, has been crowned the World Best in English Language Skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, UK.

Representing Nigeria through the Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), Nafisa distinguished herself among more than 20,000 contestants from 69 countries—a remarkable achievement that has earned her international recognition.

The TeenEagle competition is a globally respected event that evaluates students' proficiency in English, critical thinking, and communication skills. It draws participants from both English-speaking and non-English-speaking nations.

Nafisa’s outstanding performance was acknowledged in a statement by her family’s head, Hassan Salifu, who credited her success to “dedication, discipline, and the supportive environment provided by the state government.”

“Our daughter’s achievement would not have been possible without the forward-thinking educational support of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, whose vision has brought global acclaim to our state and nation,” Salifu stated.

He also highlighted that Nafisa surpassed competitors from native English-speaking countries—an extraordinary accomplishment that reflects her exceptional intellect and preparation.

Celebrations have erupted across Yobe and beyond, as the Aminu family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Buni and the teachers at NTIC for nurturing Nafisa’s talents.

“Nafisa’s victory underscores the importance of investing in education. Governor Buni’s efforts have not only revitalized our schools but also put Yobe and Nigeria in the global academic spotlight,” the family remarked.

There are now growing calls for Nafisa to receive both state and national recognition, with many viewing her achievement as a powerful example of Nigeria’s underutilized academic potential.

“She has brought pride to our nation by surpassing countries where English is the mother tongue. Her win proves that with the right support, Nigerian students can compete—and win—on the world stage,” said a proud relative.
