Nigerian senior secondary school students pursuing arts and humanities will no longer be required to have a credit in Mathematics in their Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) as a prerequisite for university and polytechnic admission, according to the Federal Ministry of Education's announcement on Tuesday. For years, students seeking admission in the arts and humanities have been mandated to present five credit passes, including Mathematics and English Language, just like their counterparts in the sciences and social sciences.
