Student Loan: NELFUND Reopens Student Verification Portal for 48 Hours; Names 203 Defaulting Institutions

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced that its student verification portal will be reopened for 48 hours to allow tertiary institutions that have yet to complete the verification of their students to do so.

In a statement issued by its Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the portal will be accessible from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

This limited extension aims to ensure that all eligible students are properly verified by their respective institutions as part of the ongoing 2024/2025 NELFUND loan application process.

NELFUND urged institutions to take full advantage of this final opportunity, warning that failure to complete the verification process within the specified period will disqualify them from participating in the current loan cycle.

The student verification portal had initially closed on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, following the end of the second round of applications.

In addition, NELFUND has published a list of 203 public tertiary institutions that failed to meet the verification requirements.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) is to reopen the student verification portal for a period of 48 hours to enable tertiary institutions that are yet to complete their student verification exercise to do so.

A statement by the Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, explains that the portal will be accessible from 12:00 am on Sunday, October 12, 2025, to 12:00 am on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

It says the extension is intended to ensure that all eligible students are duly captured and verified by their respective institutions as part of the ongoing 2024/2025 NELFUND loan application process.

The Fund urges institutions to make full use of this final opportunity, as failure to complete the verification process within the stipulated period will result in the affected institutions forfeiting participation in the current loan cycle.

NELFUND had closed the student verification portal on Wednesday, 8 October, following the expiration of the second circle of applications.
‎
Meanwhile, NELFUND has published the names of 203 defaulting public tertiary institutions.

NAF Plane crash in Niger State A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft went down on Saturday near Karabonde, a small community in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. The crash occurred around 4:00 p.m., according to eyewitnesses. Local residents reported that the two pilots sustained injuries. A group of armed gunmen have kidnapped multiple travellers in Niger State,   The attack occurred along the Ibbi–Bussa road in the Mokwa–New Bussa axis after the assailants ambushed a highway and engaged in a shootout with police officers.
