Japan unveiled new type of "Solar Panel"

Image
Japan has unveiled a groundbreaking solar panel made from titanium, which is claimed to be 1,000 times more powerful than traditional silicon-based panels. This new type of solar panel uses a combination of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) and selenium (Se), and its efficiency is due to an advanced manufacturing process that optimizes the interaction between these materials. This could mark a major shift in renewable energy technology, offering more affordable and accessible energy generation. The use of titanium in the solar panel is a major innovation, as titanium is highly durable and resistant to corrosion, but it is expensive to produce. Researchers in Japan are working on methods to reduce the production costs of titanium, particularly through the use of yttrium, a chemical element that helps purify titanium. However, challenges remain with impurities in the final titanium product, which could affect its durability. If these challenges are overcome, this titanium-selenium solar pa...

Smart phones to be replaced by another technology - Mark Zuckerberg predicts

Image
Mark Zuckerberg predicts that smartphones will be replaced by smart   glasses within a decade.  He envisions a future where people interact with digital content through augmented reality (AR) wearables instead of handheld devices.  Meta and Apple are already investing heavily in this technology, with products like Apple's Vision Pro signaling a shift toward a screen-free experience. The transition to smart glasses will be driven by advancements in AI and AR, allowing users to access information, make calls, and navigate without looking at a phone.  However, challenges like battery life, processing power, and privacy concerns remain.  While smartphones won’t disappear overnight, history suggests that more convenient technologies eventually replace older ones. Public reactions are mixed, with some excited about the innovation and others skeptical about practicality, comfort, and potential health risks.  Many question whether people will adopt smart glasses on...

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that exceptional candidates under 16 years old can be considered for admission into tertiary institutions if they score at least 320 out of 400 (80%) in the UTME . This decision follows the reversal of the 18-year minimum admission age introduced by the former Minister of Education. The current minister, Olatunji Alausa , reinstated the 16-year benchmark but allowed exceptions for highly gifted students. JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede , emphasized that while 16 remains the standard admission age, exceptional students must prove their ability through multiple exams, including UTME, WASSCE, Post-UTME, and GCE O/Level. He also criticized some private universities for admitting underage students who later struggle academically and warned against manipulation of birth records by parents. Additionally, JAMB has introduced a mock UTME for underage candidates to assess their capabilities, though this mock exam ...
